After witnessing the success of Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, I decided to give the original another shot. While the base game has its charm, I felt it lacked some key features that could improve immersion and gameplay. So, after some research, I installed several mods that significantly enhanced my experience. Here’s a list of the must-have mods that made my playthrough much better!
Bushes – Collision Remover Mod

One of the first things I noticed in KCD was that you couldn’t walk through bushes. This broke immersion for me, making the world feel less natural. This mod fixes that issue, allowing you to move through foliage realistically. From the gameplay I’ve seen of KCD 2, it looks like they implemented this feature in the sequel too—a win-win!
30 FPS Cutscene Fix V2 Mod

Creator: Alex11235

For some reason, all cutscenes in KCD are locked to 30 FPS with a blurry effect (maybe they wanted a more cinematic feel), which felt outdated the moment I started a new game. This mod unlocks the frame rate up to 144 FPS (depending on your hardware), making cutscenes much smoother and more enjoyable. Now, Henry’s adventures play out in their full glory without that annoying frame cap!
Deep Water Horse Mod

Creator: JovianStone
Link: Deep Water Horse
If you’re like me and take your horse everywhere—even into water—this mod is a game-changer. Inspired by games like Red Dead Redemption 2 and Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, I’ve developed a habit of crossing water with my horse. This mod allows your horse to traverse deep water, making exploration feel more seamless.
Enhanced Hair Textures Mod

Creator: Grimsy
Link: Enhanced Hair Textures
This mod makes subtle but noticeable improvements to hair textures, making them sharper and more vibrant. Some characters’ hair looks much better with this mod enabled, enhancing immersion without a significant performance hit.
Skip Intro Mod

Creator: Marco S
Link: Skip Intro
The first time I launched KCD, I enjoyed the lengthy intro sequence. The tenth time? Not so much. This mod completely skips the intro, taking you straight to the main menu so you can jump into the game faster. A huge time-saver!
Volumetric Fog Shadows Mod

Creator: Jindra1403
Link: Volumetric Fog Shadows
This graphical enhancement mod adds volumetric shadows to fog, making lighting more dynamic and realistic. The game’s atmosphere improves significantly without noticeable FPS drops, making it a must-have for those who love immersive visuals.
Summertime Reshade for Kingdom Come Mod

Creator: Flunkiii
Link: Summertime Reshade for Kingdom Come
If you feel the original game’s colors are too dull, this reshade mod enhances lighting, depth of field, ambient occlusion, and vibrance. With this installed, KCD looks closer to KCD 2’s visuals, making the world feel more alive. Installation is simple, and performance impact is minimal.
Final Thoughts
These mods have transformed my experience with Kingdom Come: Deliverance, making it feel smoother, more immersive, and visually enhanced without straying too far from the original intent of the game. If you’re planning to revisit the first game after getting hyped for KCD 2, I highly recommend giving these mods a try!
