Summer Game Fest 2025: The Most Exciting Game Reveals and Updates

The Summer Game Fest 2025 was packed with exciting reveals, exclusive looks, and plenty of surprises across every genre imaginable. From AAA blockbusters to indie gems, here’s a comprehensive rundown of everything you need to know — straight from my watch-through notes. Let’s dive in!
Big AAA Titles and Most Anticipated Games
Mortal Shell 2
Developed by a small team of just 30 devs, Mortal Shell 2 looks absolutely stunning. The graphics and combat animations have been significantly upgraded, making it feel much bigger than its team size suggests. If you loved the first game’s challenging combat, this sequel coming in 2026 should be on your radar.
Death Stranding 2: On the Beach
We got an exclusive new look at Death Stranding 2, and wow — the character animations are top-notch, and the music is pure heaven. The trailer hinted at a deep connection between Neil and Lucy, two key characters as confirmed by Kojima himself. Mark your calendars for June 26!
Sonic Racing Crossworld
Sonic fans, rejoice! Coming September 25, Sonic Racing Crossworld promises the next generation of Sonic racing action — and it’s even crossing over with Minecraft. This mashup could be wild.
Atomic Heart 2
If you loved the first Atomic Heart, you’re in for a treat. The sequel amps up the action-adventure RPG elements with FPS gameplay, photo-realistic graphics, and insane new mechanics that promise more player freedom. No release date yet, but you can wishlist it now.
Code Vein 2
The art style and music in Code Vein 2 are fantastic, but the gameplay pacing seemed a bit slow for me. It’s coming in 2026, and while it might not be my cup of tea, fans of the original will likely appreciate it.
Mafia: The Old Country
A new trailer for Mafia: The Old Country dropped, and it looks as stylish and story-driven as ever. The August 8 release date is coming up fast, and this one’s definitely worth a watch.
Resident Evil Requiem (RE9)
Geoff teased an ambitious new Resident Evil game with photorealistic graphics and a full-on RE vibe. The trailer was cinematic and intense, revealing RE9 releasing February 27, 2026. This is shaping up to be a high-stakes action-packed entry.
Hitman World of Assassinations & 007 Firstlight
The Hitman universe expands with a new villain from the James Bond universe, Le Chiffre, featured in a special event running June 6 to July 6, 2025. Plus, 007 Firstlight is on track for 2026, promising more espionage thrills.
Lies of P: Overture DLC
Shadow dropped today with a fresh new look at Lies of P. The DLC features crazy bosses, new weapons like the bow and arrow and wolverine claw, and lots of new content that fans will love. I’m super hyped — this game continues to impress!
Dying Light: The Beast
The Dying Light franchise returns with The Beast, delivering a crazy new trailer and all the fun zombie parkour action we love. Set for August 22 with preorder ready, this one looks like a must-play for fans of the series.
Arc Raiders
Fans were hoping for a launch today, but Arc Raiders got pushed to October 30. I’m really disappointed about the delay, especially after the hype, but it’s a title I’m still very excited to play when it finally arrives.
Noteworthy Upcoming Titles and Mid-Tier Games
Chronicles Medieval
Narrated by Tom Hardy, this game from Raw Power Games has a cool medieval theme but the animation felt a bit off. Early access is planned for 2026.
End of Abyss
Coming in 2026, this debut title has strong Little Nightmares vibes — expect a dark, atmospheric experience.
Mouse PI For Hire
A striking black-and-white shooter coming later this year, featuring none other than Troy Baker lending his voice. Definitely one to watch.
Onimusha: Way of the Sword
The new gameplay trailer impressed me — the music and visuals are solid. Set for 2026, this is a wishlist-worthy title.
Game of Thrones: War for Westeros
While I’m not a fan of CGI trailers, the quality here was undeniable, and the music was fire. It’s a real-time strategy game releasing in 2026, though I’m personally not sold on the genre.

Final Thoughts
Overall, I’m really happy with the variety and quality of announcements at Summer Game Fest 2025. The exclusive looks at Death Stranding 2, Atomic Heart 2, Lies of P DLC, Dying Light: The Beast, and Arc Raiders got me genuinely excited for what’s coming next. However, I have to admit I’m pretty bummed out about not getting to play Arc Raiders right now and the absence of any news on Crimson Desert — two titles I was really hoping to see in action.
Still, the show delivered plenty of reasons to be hyped, and I can’t wait to dive into these games as they release. What about you? Which announcements got you the most excited? Drop your thoughts below!
