So, our lil rumor was actually right, and we got the State of Play 2025 game announcements yesterday itself. But was it the best State of Play event? Idk, man! I woke up at 3 in the morning for this, and while there were 33 big reveals and shockers, I’m not gonna dive into every single one. Instead, I’ll split it into two sections: Big Games and Shockers and Smaller Games and the Rest. Whether you’re here for Monster Hunter WildsBorderlands 4, or the unexpected surprises, this breakdown has all the State of Play 2025 highlights you need. Let’s get into it!


1. Monster Hunter Wilds – Launch Trailer

The hype train for Monster Hunter Wilds keeps rolling! This time, we got a launch trailer showing off some gameplay and story moments. The big news? An open beta test is coming from Feb 13th 7 PM PT to Feb 16th 6:59 PM PT for PS5, Xbox Series S|X, and PC. The release date is still locked in for Feb 28th, 2025.

If you’re a Monster Hunter fan, this is your fix. And if you’re new to the series, well, prepare for a lot of grinding, crafting, and yelling at your screen when a giant monster decides to sit on you. Good times.

2. Lost Soul Aside – Pre-Order Trailer

Finally, some gameplay and a release date! Lost Soul Aside is coming on May 30, 2025, for PS5 and PC. This fast-paced action game has a crazy traversal system that looks like Devil May Cry meets Final Fantasy XV. Pre-orders start on Feb 19th at 10 AM EST on PlayStation Store and 11 AM EST on Steam and Epic Games Store.

The combat looks flashy, the movement is insane, and the visuals are stunning. If you’ve ever wanted to feel like an anime protagonist while fighting interdimensional monsters, this is your game. Just don’t be surprised if you start trying to wall-run in real life afterward.

3. Borderlands 4 – Official Launch Date Trailer

Gearbox dropped some new gameplay, and it looks as chaotic and fun as ever. The release date is set for Sept 23, 2025, with more details coming in the Spring State of Play.

This time, you’ll play as one of four new Vault Hunters, breaking free from a dangerous hidden planet. Expect billions of guns, outrageous enemies, and the same co-op mayhem that made the series famous.

If you’re a fan of looter shooters, this is a no-brainer. And if you’re not, well… it’s Borderlands. You’ll either love the chaos or wonder why everyone’s so obsessed with Claptrap’s terrible jokes.

4. Split Fiction – Story Trailer

This co-op adventure game got a new gameplay trailer, and it’s coming on Mar 6th, 2025. The trailer showed off mind-blowing moments and a boundary-pushing co-op experience that feels like It Takes Two meets Portal.

If you’re into co-op games that mess with your brain and your friendships, this one’s worth keeping an eye on. Just make sure you’re playing with someone who won’t rage quit when things get weird—because they will get weird.

5. Directive 8020 – Story Reveal Trailer

Supermassive Games is back with another survival horror experience, but this time… in space! Directive 8020 is set to release on Oct 2, 2025, and pre-orders start in June.

The game follows a group of people trying to survive in the cold void of space, with every choice having consequences. If you loved The Quarry or Until Dawn, this is basically that… but with zero gravity and alien threats.

Just remember: in space, no one can hear you scream. But your friends on the couch definitely will.

6. Five Nights at Freddy’s: Secret of the Mimic – First Gameplay and Date Reveal

The eleventh mainline FNAF game is coming on June 13, 2025, developed by Steel Wool Studios. It’s a first-person survival horror game with lots of puzzles, running, and of course, creepy animatronics.

If you’re a FNAF fan, this is more of the same. And if you’re not, well… prepare to scream and question your life choices. Pro tip: play this with the lights on and a friend nearby. Trust me, you’ll need the moral support.

7. The Midnight Walk – Release Date Announcement Trailer

Inspired by Little Nightmares, The Midnight Walk is a first-person horror game with a unique stop-motion art style. It’s coming on May 8, 2025, for PS5, PC, and VR.

You’ll befriend a lost lantern creature and light your way through a world of wonder and terror. The visuals are stunning, and the atmosphere is thick enough to cut with a knife.

If you’re into creepy, atmospheric games, this one’s for you. Just don’t blame me if you start seeing shadows move in your room after playing this in VR.

8. Onimusha: Way of the Sword – Official Gameplay Trailer

Capcom’s new samurai action game has Nioh vibes with a dark fantasy twist. The combat looks fast and fluid, and the story follows a samurai wielding the mystical Oni Gauntlet. It’s coming in 2026.

12. Days Gone Remastered – Announce Trailer
