Yesterday, I decided to jump into the Delta Force Black Hawk Down solo, just to get a feel for it before playing with my friends. First attempt? Quick play with randoms. Optimization was rough, and I bailed. Later, I tried solo again, lowering the graphics to ‘high.’ Man, that was brutal. I barely lasted 10 minutes. Today, I’m sharing my full Delta Force Black Hawk Down Gameplay review

Today, I got the squad back together, and we tore through three chapters in about two hours. Even with the optimization still being a bit wonky, we had a blast. Some fun moments, some frustrating ones, but overall, a good time.

Delta Force Black Hawk Down Gameplay: Tactical and Team-Based

We really enjoyed the slow, tactical pace. The weapon feel is solid, which is a big plus for me. There are four classes to choose from, each with a specific role:

  • Gunner: Your classic heavy hitter. Shoots, throws grenades, makes space.
  • Support: Ammo dispenser extraordinaire. You’ll need this class, trust me. Without them, you’re going to suffer.
  • Sniper: Standard sniper with an 8x zoom. Felt good to pick off enemies from a distance.
  • Medic: My personal favorite. More med kits to use and share. Essential for keeping the team alive.

The enemy AI is a mixed bag. Sometimes they’re laser accurate, other times they’re clueless. The snipers are especially really accurate. But the environment design is fantastic. You really have to hunt for enemies, which I loved. The constant search through buildings and debris creates a tense atmosphere.

Mixed Feelings: Fun Now, Limited Future

After three chapters and a few deaths, especially on chapter three, we’re left with mixed feelings. We’ll definitely finish the campaign, but I don’t see us coming back to this for casual play like we do with Ready or Not. In Ready or Not, the procedural enemy placement and good AI keep things fresh. Here, the enemies are static. After 10 hours, you’ll know exactly where they are, making speed runs too easy.

Overall, the Delta Force: Black Hawk Down free campaign is a fun experience, especially with friends. But the limited replayability is a downside.
