You’ve probably caught wind of the Lies of P team dropping news about their first DLC, Overture. I chewed on that announcement in a previous post, and it lit a fire under me to jump back into the game. It’s been a minute since I roamed Krat’s creepy streets. Revisiting Lies of P in 2025 had me wondering: was this game really that good, or did the 2023 hype just carry me? Let’s dig in and find out.
Back in the Game: A Nostalgia Trip

I first played Lies of P on PC through Xbox Game Pass when it launched, after grinding the Steam demo like a fiend. Loved it—every grim corner, every puppet-smashing swing. Back then, I didn’t own it on Steam, but when I spotted it at 40% off recently, I couldn’t resist. Fired it up, and bam—nostalgia hit like a brick. The Unreal Engine 4 visuals? Still stunning. Moody, crisp, and so damn optimized—zero performance dips on my old 1660ti, and now it’s buttery smooth on my 6750xt. Hats off to the devs; this thing runs like a dream.
Third Time’s the Charm

This is technically my third spin through the opening hours (demo included), and I remembered most of the early beats. First boss? Total pushover, especially with the new Wo Long update—those collab perks are clutch. Then came Scrapped Watchman. That jerk gave me a run for my money, but I sent him packing quick enough. Thing is, I’m not rushing this time. I’m poking into every shadowy nook, and—get this—I’ve already found stuff I missed before. Like a sneaky side path with a chest I totally blanked on last time. Now I’m itching to explore deeper, no speedrunning allowed.
Going Full Soulslike: No Crutches

Here’s where it gets real: I’m ditching specter summons this round. No star fragments, no ghostly backup—just me and the grind. It’s pure soulslike pain, and I’m here for it. So far? Brutal. King’s Flame, Fuoco is my personal nightmare—I’ve died more times than I’ll admit, raging so hard I had to step away before finally torching that fiery bastard. God, I hate him. But man, that victory felt good. The struggle’s half the fun, right?
Hype or Heart? It’s the Real Deal

So, was it just hype that had me raving back in 2023? Hell nah. Lies of P still slaps—hard. That creeping dread as you creep through Krat, the rush of uncovering a hidden stash, the “one more try” pull when a boss wrecks you—it’s all there. It’s got that same addictive spark I’ve been loving in Black Myth: Wukong lately. Once I start playing, I don’t wanna stop. That’s the mark of a game with soul, not just hot air.
Wrap-Up: Check This Out Too
I’m only 4-5 hours into this replay, and I’m hooked all over again. Lies of P isn’t some flash-in-the-pan hype job—it’s a legit gem that’s aging like fine wine.
