PlayStation’s Latest Showcase Felt Pointless – Here’s Why I’m Unimpressed

Sony’s latest PlayStation – State of Play delivered over 40 minutes of game reveals, updates, and surprises. While some announcements were exciting, others left fans wanting more. Here’s a breakdown of everything revealed during the event.
New Game Announcements & Updates
Lumines Arise – Fall 2025
A fresh entry in the Lumines series, this puzzle game takes inspiration from Tetris Effect, offering trippy visuals and rhythmic gameplay. Developed by Enhance Games, it will be available on PS5 and PS VR2, with a free demo coming later this summer.
Pragmata – 2026
Capcom’s long-awaited sci-fi adventure finally resurfaced with a new gameplay trailer. The game follows an astronaut and a mysterious girl named Diana, featuring Dead Space-inspired mechanics, insane hair physics, and intense alien combat.
Romeo is a Dead Man – 2026
A funky third-person shooter with hack-and-slash elements, developed by Grasshopper Manufacture. The game features zombies, sci-fi tech, and over-the-top action, making it one of the more unique reveals.
Silent Hill f – September 25, 2025
Konami showcased a new gameplay/story/release trailer for Silent Hill f, a terrifying psychological horror set in 1960s Japan. The footage featured haunting imagery, marionette-like creatures, and disturbing transformations. Pre-orders are now live.
Bloodstained: The Scarlet Engagement
A side-scrolling action game set in a gothic castle, featuring classic Metroidvania mechanics. The game is set in the 16th century, with stylized enemies and intricate level design.
Digimon Story: Time Stranger – October 3, 2025

A Mixed Showcase
While the event featured some exciting reveals, it lacked major surprises. Games like Silent Hill f, Final Fantasy Tactics, and Nioh 3 stood out, but the overall lineup felt underwhelming compared to previous showcases. Hopefully, Summer Game Fest will bring bigger announcements.
