I recently downloaded Black Myth: Wukong again because I had a sudden itch for a fun action-adventure game with a sprinkle of Souls-like vibes. I was also itching to explore Black Myth Wukong New Game Plus, eager to see how it enhances the adventure. I played this gem when it first launched and racked up around 50 hours—absolutely loved it! I managed to complete almost everything, missing just 2-3 bosses that I’m planning to tackle in my New Game Plus (NG+) playthrough.
Honestly, I don’t usually jump into NG+ modes, but there are a few games that pulled me in. Take The Witcher 3, for example. That game made me feel like a real Witcher, roaming around, listening to NPCs share their woes, and helping them out—it was such a joy! Then there’s Gotham Knights (which is on sale btw). Yeah, I know it got a lot of hate, but I actually enjoyed it. I wanted to experience the whole game with just one knight, so I’ve played through it twice already—two more knights to go!
And now, here I am diving back into Black Myth: Wukong for round two. Let’s see what’s new in NG+!
First Impressions of New Game Plus
The moment I launched NG+, the first thing that hit me was just how gorgeous this game looks! Seriously, did it always look this good? It feels like the visuals got a nice little upgrade. Plus, the optimization is on point! My setup with the 6750 XT and 5600X ran it super smoothly.
Now, let me tell you—I felt like an absolute god in this build! I cleared Chapter 1 and all the side bosses without dying even once. Can you believe that? In my first playthrough, I died quite a few times. It felt so easy but not boring at all! I was reveling in the chaos, feeling like the main boss as I wiped out enemies left and right.

I’m currently level 112 and halfway through Chapter 2. Just took down the Rat Father and Son without breaking a sweat! But here’s the kicker: while I’m having fun, I’d say my satisfaction level is around 80/100. Why? Because it doesn’t feel as rewarding this time around.
My Experience with Black Myth Wukong NG+: Is It Worth It?
Since I unlocked all the outfits and weapons in my first run, I was hoping for some fresh gear in NG+ to keep things exciting. But nope—nothing new yet! There was a recent update after the Game Awards that added a new map and some modes, which were fun to try out, but again, no new rewards really dampen the thrill.
Will I stop playing now? Not a chance! I’m determined to go back and finally take down those last few bosses from my first playthrough. Still, I wish they’d thrown in some new weapons or abilities to spice things up.

On the bright side, they did a solid job cutting out some unnecessary cutscenes for NG+, which is great—respecting my time is always appreciated! And if those DLC rumors are true, we might be getting something exciting this August for the game’s first anniversary.
In conclusion, Black Myth: Wukong is still an incredible game with stunning visuals and engaging combat. While NG+ lets me revisit the world with newfound power, the lack of fresh content makes it feel less thrilling than it could be. But hey, I’m still looking forward to finishing what I started!
